Groves of trees
Cool shade
Mellowed by age
The Capital is in the grip of extreme summer. At times scorching and at others humid and suffocating. One dies for a breath of fresh air where there is just stillness. Leaves don’t stir , birds have forgotten their songs and the blooms droop in wilting prayer. Fatigue! Fatigue! Fatigue! Everywhere! So what can be more blissful, in the midst of this charred surround, than a canopy of green stooping low over a bowl of crystal clear water wherein you can just surrender your listless form in unquestioning obeisance and gather strength drip by drip letting the water seep into every pore of your exhausted being rejuvenating, recharging and refreshing you, drop by drop, gradually! The thought of it makes me realize that had it been extreme winter – grey, bleary and cold, the idea of bliss would have been the exact opposite – a warm blanket pulled over chilled feet up on a stool right next to a roaring fire!! That makes me realize what a bluff the concept of ‘absolute bliss’ is!!! Which again proves irrefutably that the search for ‘The Absolute’ …’The Eternal’… is such a sham!! Salute those tireless travelers who have spent ages in quest of it. But…
These pictures were taken one hot summer noon in BD park, close to my flat, at the onset of summer. Afternoon is the time for the MCD gardeners to water the park and they had let the hose pipes loose on the grass. That is how water had accumulated mirroring the thick foliage of the trees grouped together. The park is well-tended and orderly as though Nature has given a slip of a concession, in an expansive mood, to the caretakers to keep everything “in place” for a while, till the next mood-swing whence she may make up her mind to disturb the taciturnity of creation with one swoop of her havoc-hand.
Till then Bliss…Status Quo….Tranquil, Tamper-free Order…..an Illusory Lull just before the tumultuous storm….a moment named Bliss hyphenated between the Calm and the Chaos, Order and Disorder, Panic and Peace, Still and the Restive…something extremely ephemeral at the same time an epiphany in proportion which gives a glimpse of something bigger, larger and all encompassing ,within the mundane arrangements of this world. No matter even if it is for a tiny second, just like the bowl of water, transparent and still, caught in cuffs under the shady nook of the surrounding trees, ready to vanish any time in a curl of wispy smoke, as the Sun prepares to wage a war, drawing the curtain of the clouds aside.
Till then it is Bliss……..Aaaaaaaah!!!!
